Everett Orchards is a sixth generation farm located in the northeast corner of New York State's
Champlain Valley.  The Champlain Valley area of New York has long been regarded for the high
quality McIntosh apples it produces.  The sun filled days and cool nights provide an ideal
environment for the production of apples.  Other commercial apple varieties produced include
Cortland, Empire, Red Delicious, Paula Red, Spartan and Jersey Mac.

The foundation of Everett Orchards dates back to 1776 when Captain Edward Everett moved to
the Champlain Valley from Massachusetts after serving in the American Revolution.  Captain
Everett had received a 150 acre tract of land for doing some surveying in the area the previous
year.  His son, David Allen Everett purchased the property where the farm still exists and
operates today in Peru, New York.
Our Story
Everett Orchards Ltd
The farmhouse that is currently located on the property was completed in 1832, just before the
birth of Harvey Everett.  He remained on the farm and in 1867 David deeded it over to him.
Harvey's son, William, worked on the farm and eventually acquired it in 1897.  Up to this point
the farm had been primarily general livestock and fruit.

William was an active leader in the community and was instrumental in establishing Rural Free
Delivery for mail in town.  William died in 1940 and his son Earl continued to operate the farm.
Under Earl's management the business continued as dairy and fruit.

In 1951, Earl and his son David decided that the fruit business looked promising and they went
on to plant more apple trees.  By 1960 the last of the dairy herd was sold and the business
concentrated on growing McIntosh apples.  In 1963 the Everett's recognized something had to
be done to help market the fruit.  David and two fellow growers formed a corporation,
Champlain Valley Apple Storage, Inc.

David's two son's, William and Thomas, joined the business in 1973 and 1984 respectively.
The business has continued to evolve under William and Thomas as they added Honeycrisp,
Gingergold, and Gala to it's apple variety mix.  The farm has grown to three sites totalling 235
acres.

In August of 2002, the Everett's opened a farm market and cidery in nearby Plattsburgh, New
York.  In 2005 they began producing Dry, Semi-Sweet, and Sweet hard ciders which sold out
by the end of the season.  For 2006 the production of the hard cider doubled, and today the
selection includes a new carbonated cider called King Blossom and a cross-over cider called
Bitter Sweet.  New in 2009 we introduced Kingston Black, a lightly carbonated Cider.
